Usage Notes
When working with a lathe that uses a 3-jaw chuck, it is crucial to avoid removing and re-clamping the workpiece. Once a workpiece has been secured and then removed, repositioning it in the chuck will result in alignment errors. This happens because 3-jaw chucks are designed for centering a piece consistently only from the initial clamping position. Any reinstallation, even in the same chuck, can cause slight deviations, which may lead to inaccuracies in your work. This is a fundamental principle when working with lathes that use self-centering chucks. To maintain precision, we recommend completing all necessary machining on a piece before removing it from the chuck.
